Learning Spaces as Social Places

Today more than ever before, schools are challenged to provide learning spaces that meet the needs of the latest technologies. But technology changes rapidly and places tend to remain fairly stable. Education is embracing technology as teaching and learning tools. Space and the things that define it are also tools. When designed and used in support of learning, spaces, furniture and furnishings can enhance the student experience and increase positive outcomes.
This is a paper about learning spaces.
It offers evidence regarding learning, knowledge and how the design and arrangement of learning spaces affect learning. Unlike other white papers you may have read, this is electronic and interactive - an “iPaper” if you will. This document, like learning itself, is a journey - a start to the conversation.
